Medical and Recreational Marijuana is tested, right?

Is this legal?

Who can use this lab?

When you say you “test” marijuana, are you guys just sitting around smoking weed?

How long does it take to get my results?

Our typical turn-around time is 7-10 business days. Additional rush charges apply for faster processing.

How do I submit a sample?

Our preferred method is to arrange a drop-off at our location in Colorado Springs (courier deliveries accepted). Currently, we can schedule a pick-up within the metro Denver-Boulder-Longmont-Castle Rock area for an additional fee.

We do not accept shipments from people not already in our database, so please complete our New Account Information Form first. Our Chain of Custody must be included with all sample submissions.

Federal law prohibits the transfer of marijuana products through the U.S. mail system, requiring all samples of marijuana to be hand delivered to us. However, the only way to really know if a sample is hemp or marijuana is to test it. Please do not knowingly mail marijuana or marijuana products to The Good Lab.

For hemp or CBD, our preferred vendor is the US Mail (USPS), which has specified that plant material affirmed and designated as hemp is legal to mail. It’s important to include documentation with the sample for your own protection, as well as maintaining a chain of custody. For reference, here is the USPS Hemp Mailing Policy (begins at bottom of page 1). USPS parcels have free tracking services. For more information about shipping hemp and hemp products, please visit our Hemp Q&A.

How much does it cost?

Cost depends on the type of test and the type of sample we’re testing. Check out our current prices here.

How do I pay?

Payment is due when samples are submitted. We will not release test results until payment has been received. We accept cash, checks, credit/debit cards or Paypal and offer bulk discounts, patient pricing and seasonal specials.

Do you offer discounts for multiple samples?

We offer discounts for bulk sample submission and ongoing testing plans. We also offer seasonal discounts and reduced rates for patients. To discuss a discount, please contact us.

What amount is required for testing?

Sample size depends on the type of test and product being tested.

Potency:
Flower & Trim – 2-3 grams
Extracts, Concentrates, Isolates – 1 gram
Liquids, Tinctures, Infused Oils* – 5 milliliters minimum (about a teaspoon)
Edibles, topicals, salves – Please contact us to discuss appropriate sampling procedures

*Liquids: We prefer to sample tincture products from the original bottle to reduce the risk of leaking or contamination and ensure better homogenization. We will return any unused portion to you upon your request. If you take the sample, please shake the bottle well to be sure the cannabinoids are evenly distributed for an accurate sample.

Medical and Recreational Marijuana is tested, right?

That’s right, at least in the regulated market. However, home cultivators and caregivers are not required to test and are not able to access the licensed regulated labs. That’s where we come in.

YES!

The industry labs, certified by the CDPHE and licensed by the DOR/MED, are only allowed to test for the licensed industry. Home cultivators, including patients and caregivers, do not have access to these labs. After hours of conversations and stakeholder meetings with the MED, CDPHE, CDA and industry representatives, the only solution was a private independent lab dedicated to testing for those outside of the regulated industry.

Who can use this lab?

We are dedicated to providing access to reliable test results to patients, but our services are available to anyone: patients, home cultivators, consumers, health care professionals, parents, caregivers, researchers, hemp farmers, hemp extractors, product developers, hemp brokers, craft growers and connoisseurs… the list goes on.

If we only had a dollar for every time we’ve heard that one! Sometimes joking, sometimes serious.

No, that’s not how it works.

We use quality lab equipment, like High-Performance Liquid Chromatography,  and follow the standards and procedures of the industry labs for results you can rely on.
