High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) is the most powerful method for measuring cannabinoid content in cannabis. Unlike Gas Chromatograpy (GC), HPLC doesn’t heat the sample prior to analysis, which prevents the acidic (non-active) cannabinoids from being decarboxylated into their active forms. Detecting the acidic cannabinoids (such as THC-A and CBD-A) is crucial for patients and consumers. It’s the only way to determine how well a product has been activated during the cooking process.
One of the most important steps in creating a quality infused cannabis product is ensuring cannabinoid content is evenly distributed.
